OPPORTUNITY

CH Coakley has long been a trusted vendor of Konecranes/Morris Material Handling so when their Milwaukee branch was looking to put a disaster recovery method in place, they turned to CH Coakley to digitize their crane folders for risk prevention.

Snap-On Tools also established records retention, retrieval, and destruction policy and procedures would now be managed by the legal department, as opposed to the facilities management. Snap-On Tools legal department needed a solution that entailed not just physical storage of records but also included a vendor that would manage all aspects of the records and advise on everything from best practices for indexing to retention schedules.

Solution:

CH Coakley was tasked with scanning tens of thousands of individual drawings and pertinent files on behalf of Konecranes/Morris Material Handling. Upon completion of this massive two year project, the client discovered that their aftermarket sales personnel had immediate access to many of the digitized records on a daily go-forward basis to quote replacement parts, which enabled the client sales personnel to become more efficient and provide immediate solutions. Konecranes/Morris Material Handling was able to close after market repair deals much quicker, which in turn showed an increase in parts sales.

Results:

Since that project, the company has continued to use CH Coakley as its primary vendor for their North American records. Konecranes/Morris Material Handling contracted CH Coakley Mayflower to relocate and consolidate six regional branch operating files into CH Coakley Archives. The partnership continues to expand. Konecranes/Morris Material Handling recently consolidate all of their Shepard Niles cranes reports to CH Coakley Archives. The company now implements a hybrid approach of standard record retention and scan-on-demand: scan designated requests and deliver the engineer in need. This solution provides an efficient and cost effective answer to the company’s global needs and a net effect of profitable aftermarket sales.
